Design Museum Academy Young people workshop

Design Camp: Enzo Mari Lino Printing for 11 to 14 year olds

In this hands-on workshop, learn how to create a concertina book using lino print techniques inspired by the work and ethos of Italian designer Enzo Mari.

What to expect

Inspired by the books of The Maris, participants will work to create a series of lino prints which will be made into a concertina book.

Mari’s playful approach to storytelling favoured beautifully illustrated imagery. The session will start with a visit to get inspiration from the books and storyboards featured in our Enzo Mari curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist with Francesca Giacomelli exhibition before returning to the workshop to create their own narrative.

Each print within the concertina book will showcase a different lino technique and their book will act as a guide for future lino projects.

Learning outcomes:

• Lino carving techniques

• Reduction carving lino printing

• Book making

Please note:

– All equipment, materials and light refreshments will be provided, but participants will need to bring a packed lunch

– Please let us know of any access needs, including neurodiversity, when booking a place for your child. If your child receives additional support in their formal education setting, you are welcome to bring a carer/additional adult at no cost, but we are unable to provide 1:1 support
