Volunteer at the museum
Volunteers are an integral part of our team. As a volunteer, you will contribute both to the development of museum activities as well as day-to-day operations, ensuring a warm welcome for all our visitors.
The museum offers two volunteering roles to suit a wide range of adults (18yrs+) who enjoy working with the public and can be available on a regular basis.
Pioneers share stewardship of the Dame Sylvia Crowe garden and support the Growing Together project, exploring horticulture and design as catalysts for social change.
Please note that we're not currently recruiting Pioneers.
New volunteering opportunities will be posted on this page, please check again in the future.
Welcomers are the first people visitors meet on arrival at the museum. We want every visitor to feel welcomed and included in our museum and we can only achieve that from the diverse contributions of our volunteers. You don’t need to be a super fan of design, you just need to be curious and open to learn.
We're currently recruiting new Welcomers. Please download the Role Description via the link below for further information and instructions on how to apply.
Applications close at noon on 24 February.
If you have any questions about volunteering at the museum that are not found in the FAQs document below, you can get in touch with a member of the People team by emailing PeopleTeam@designmuseum.org
The Design Museum recognises that work experience is different from volunteering.
The museum is currently focusing on core activities and consequently regrets it does not have the capacity to organise work experience placements, neither for groups nor individuals.
