In this family day out, children are invited to take part in creative exercises, imagine their own characters and develop a world around them. The activities are designed for ages 5 to 11, but all family members are welcome to join.
The day will be inspired by our popular exhibition 'Wes Anderson: The Archives' and the 'Mini Designers' series published by Thames & Hudson – filled with creative projects from around the world, written by Joséphine Seblon and illustrated by Robert Sae-Heng, who will be facilitating our workshops.
You can book a 75-minute slot to participate in short, facilitated workshops around the museum. Outside of these timed slots, everyone is welcome to engage in a range of free design exercises and explore the museum's free displays and exhibitions at their own pace. The museum offers a range of free-to-visit displays on Levels 1 and 2, including its permanent collection. Please note that this event ticket does not include admission to our two paid temporary exhibitions, 'NIGO: From Japan with Love' or 'Wes Anderson: The Archives'.
Please note:
This event's ticket does not include entry to our temporary exhibitions. If you wish to book a visit, please follow the links: Wes Anderson: The Archives tickets or NIGO: From Japan with Love
Children must be accompanied by a responsible, ticket-holding adult at all times
The Family Day workshops are child-focused: all adults attending must be accompanying at least one child. Lone adults will not be granted entry to Family Day spaces
The facilitated workshops will start promptly at the advertised time. Please arrive early to avoid missing out
Eat & Drink:
On the day, bookers of this event will also enjoy a 15% discount on food and drink purchased at the museum's Design Cafe (ground level) and Design Kitchen (level 2) by showing their event ticket or wristband. If you wish to eat in the Design Kitchen, we recommend reserving a table in advance by emailing the team at thedesign.kitchen@designmuseum.org with the desired date and time. Please note that this discount cannot be combined with members' discount.

Thames & Hudson was founded in 1949 by Walter and Eva Neurath. Their passion and mission was to create a ‘museum without walls’ and to make accessible to a large reading public the world of art and the research of top scholars. Today, still an independent, family-owned company, Thames & Hudson is one of the world’s leading publishers of illustrated books across all areas of visual creativity.
