Schools and Learning Groups

Please note that all Learning Group workshops and visits must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance and are subject to minimum supervision ratios of students to adults, outlined in Section 2.1 of our Terms & Conditions for Learning Groups.

We recommend booking through our online ticketing portal, which will secure your slot immediately upon check-out.

If you prefer to pay via invoice*, you will need to submit a Booking Request Form. Please only submit this form for dates you have already confirmed as available in your own school calendar; if you wish only to check costing or availability without submitting a formal request, you can browse available sessions on the online portal. Please note that submission of the 'Booking Request Form' does not constitute a formal booking or reserve your requested slot. We aim to respond to all request forms within 5 working days.

*We cannot accept invoices from Home Education groups, who will need to book through the online portal or request a credit card payment link through the Booking Request Form.

All bookings will be confirmed via an automated email containing your ticket QR code and a booking reference number, as well as important information for you to read ahead of your visit.

Any email response not containing your ticket and reference number does not constitute a formal booking confirmation.

If you have requested to pay via invoice, this will be issued separately and must be paid at least 30 calendar days prior to your visit.

We strongly advise that you read our Terms & Conditions in full prior to making or requesting a booking: these contain all details and conditions of the booking processes as well as our student-to-accompanying adult ratios, cancellation policy, arrival procedures, expected conduct and behaviour, and more.

Learning Groups can explore our paid exhibitions and free displays, including 'Designer Maker User', which is our permanent gallery showcasing items from our collection. To help us keep everyone safe and comfortable, please pre-book tickets for your group, even if you’re planning to visit only the free displays.

Discover our on-demand, design-led workshops, covering a range of topics connecting across Design & Technology and the wider STEAM curriculum. Developed for Key Stages 2-5.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of your booking, and head to the welcome desk or speak to our Visitor Experience Assistants wearing denim aprons for support.

Workshop groups are allocated a half-hour lunch slot on the Atrium Steps as part of their booking.  If you have not booked a workshop, you may use the steps outside of the allocated times or other public spaces in and around the museum, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Toilets, including accessible toilets, can be found on Levels –1, G, and 2.

All floors are accessible by lift, and you can arrange a wheelchair for your group through our Access Information page linked below.

Although we don’t currently offer workshops tailored to SEND students, we can sometimes make adjustments for students with specific requirements. Any information you can share when booking will help us ensure the whole group has an enriching and positive trip. These may relate to mobility, sensory processing, SpLDs, English language proficiency, or anything else.
