Beazley Designs of the Year Architecture
Housing No.8 (Laboratorio de Vivienda)
Housing No.8 is a group of thirty-two experimental projects by Mexican and international architects.
The New York-based architecture practice MOS created the master plan for the nine-acre site in the Mexican city of Apan and designed the linear education centre that serves as its entry point.
Each of the prototype low-income dwellings responds to one of Mexico’s nine climatic zones and all the proposals are forms of vernacular construction, which means that they draw on traditional building methods. As such, they have the potential for growth by repeating or adding units.
Designed by MOS Architects.
