Design Museum Academy Adult workshop

Workshop: Fashion Life Drawing

Join this creative session with a live model to develop a series of sketches responding to collections featured in the REBEL: 30 Years of London Fashion exhibition led by artist and educator James Davison.

What to expect

Fashion illustration is about capturing the mood of the collection or character. This workshop will be loose and free but with a solid emphasis on how to draw the human face and body as well as clothing. We will look at proportion and scale and how they can be exaggerated or distorted to convey action and drama, focusing on how to draw the human face and body with a live model.

You will be encouraged to respond creatively to the NEWGEN archive to use mixed media to capture the energy and vibrancy of NEWGEN’s alumni through drawing. You will learn how to communicate tones and textures of fabric though mark-making and colour choice.

• Light refreshments will be provided upon arrival.

• The workshop ticket includes a complementary same-day visit to our exhibition REBEL: 30 Years of London Fashion sponsored by Alexander McQueen.

• This workshop is open to anyone with an interest in fashion design and drawing.

• No experience is necessary.

• All materials will be provided for the duration of the workshop.
