DESIGN MUSEUM ACADEMY Creative workshop
Design Camp: Create in Clay for 8 to 11 year olds
After a visit to our Ai Weiwei: Making Sense exhibition, this workshop will take you on an immersive pottery experience where you will be encouraged to try various techniques and enjoy a day of hands-on exploration of clay – from creating pinch pots to wheel throwing and crafting tools.
Suitable for children aged 8– 11.
This workshop will introduce children to the concept of repetition and make and break in the clay design process.
Starting with the physical process of preparing clay to making pinch pots into clay animals and having a go on a potter’s wheel, participants will discover the powerful creative experience of making without fear or failure.
Please note that all equipment, materials and light refreshments will be provided for the duration of the session, but you must bring a packed lunch.
Herford created Kite Studios in 2005 with a vision – to offer a creative oasis for all. She teaches adults and children, highly trained artists and people with special needs, at school and in the studio. The process of making is what fascinates Herford, who is driven by finding new ways to enable people of all ages, needs and abilities to come on board and engage in that process with her.
