DESIGN MUSEUM ACADEMY Young people workshop

Design Camp: Car Making Challenge for 11 to 14 year olds

An engaging workshop to design and build a wooden vehicle using waste materials and to discover the basics of using hand tools and join a car race.

What to expect

In this fun, hands-on workshop, create and make your own wooden wheeled vehicle and learn about the design stories behind iconic toys.

You'll be guided through the design process to help you create a wooden vehicle that’s fully functional and will be introduced to the materials and tools that will help you bring your idea to life. You will learn how found waste, off-cuts and unused materials can be turned into new things.

The workshop enhances creativity, imagination and problem solving skills and teaches you how shape your design in a safe environment.

There will be presentations, design tips and visits to the museum's Designer Maker User collection gallery for inspiration.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn a new handcraft skill and a chance to race your newly created vehicle.
